Our theme this year is space. I hadn’t planned for that to be the theme, but when we had 4 does kid within 12 hours of the eclipse, it just seemed appropriate
A note regarding pricing – It’s not random, or set on a whim. We have been working hard to bring in and breed high quality animals, and our prices will follow a formula that reflects that. All bucks will be wethered at 8 weeks old if they are not reserved as bucks by that time. All babies will be disbudded if they are not polled.
All wethers will be priced at $125 each, or $200 for a pair.
All does and intact bucks will be priced based on the accomplishments of their dam. Pricing is as follows:
Base Price: $400
*M in butterfat and/or protein: +$50
*M in production: +$50
E in mammary: +$50
Champion win: +$50 (max 4)

GraniteAcres MS Ginger x Rakkasan Ranch APA Cluster *B
DOB: April 5, 2024
Triplets: 2 boys, 1 girl
Ginger decided to kid on the one day I had a neighbor caring for the herd. I was out of town for the weekend, and my son was getting back in the wee hours from a school trip. Of course it was going to be cold, and I had been sick beforehand, so was not able to get everything setup properly in my barn, but thought it would be ok until my son was back. So Ginger and her babies got to spend the night in my neighbor’s bathroom. All are doing well, and the babies are ridiculously spunky.

GraniteAcres EC Atlanta 6*M x Gaelic Roots CW Lucky Strike *B
DOB: April 7, 2024
Triplets: 2 boys, 1 girl
Atlanta had dropped weight suddenly, and barely had any udder development, so I was not expecting her to kid. When I went out to feed that night, I found her with 1 live doeling, and 1 deceased buckling. When I got her moved to a safe place in the barn, she showed no interest in her live baby, and was obviously not feeling well, though I couldn’t feel more babies. I ended up taking the baby in the house, and giving her colostrum replacement, and giving Atlanta meds. The next day I got a frantic call at work from my son that Atlanta had a leg sticking out. I’m grateful for good friends that are willing to drop everything, and go pull out a baby that had obviously been dead for a while, and is probably what caused the problems with Atlanta. Mom and baby are doing well so far, and a week later I am finally feeling optimistic that I won’t lose Atlanta.

SG GraniteAcres WB Andromeda 2*M x Gaelic Roots CW Lucky Strike *B
DOB: April 8, 2024
Single: 1 boy
Andromeda is an old pro, and had her very big baby dry and up nursing before my son ever saw that she even had a baby. He tried getting her to take our bottle baby, but she was far enough out from having delivered that she wasn’t interested. She’s also a pill, so getting her moved to the barn where it would be easier on his own, just wasn’t going to happen, so it had to wait for me to get home from work in a couple hours.

Thistle x Rakkasan Ranch APA Cluster *B
DOB: April 8, 2024
Twins: 1 boy, 1 girl
My poor son really got put through the ringer with deliveries this day. He was busy trying to see if he could get Andromeda to take the bottle baby, when the neighbor alerted him to another mom with 2 brand new babies in the far pasture. So, he had to stop what he was doing and move Thistle and her babies in. I had to do some warming on the boy when I got home, but he perked up pretty quick, and all are good.

Mistwood LJJ Calico Rose 6*M x Rakkasan Ranch APA Cluster *B
DOB: April 8, 2024
Twins: 1 boy, 1 girl (DOA)
When I got home and went out with my son to move Andromeda, I noticed Rose was just about ready to start pushing. We got her into the barn, where she quickly had her very large boy. I could feel there was another, but it was a very tiny doeling, that was obviously underdeveloped, and I think she must have been bred later, because it was perfectly formed, just about 3 weeks too small. When I realized that was it, we very quickly rubbed birthing fluids on the bottle baby, and Rose happily accepted her. So, Atlanta’s baby is being raised by her aunt, and everybody is happy.

GraniteAcres EC Delphinium x Gaelic Roots CW Lucky Strike *B
DOB: April 11, 2024
Single: 1 girl
Delphinium sure decided to take her time cooking up her one baby. She was bred on the same day as all of the rest to have kidded previously, and with how long she was taking, I was expecting at least twins. She did well, kidded on her own before the kids got home, and is being a great mama.

GraniteAcres ID Lollipop x Gaelic Roots CW Lucky Strike *B
DOB: 4/29/24
Single: 1 boy
Lollipop decided to sneak her baby in between my check when I got home, and when I went out to feed. I wasn’t expecting her to go yet, so when I went out to feed, and heard a baby in the wrong place, I had to go looking. He was hiding in a wooden box that several of the goats love to kid in, and I had to pick him up, and haul him with me to try to figure out who mom was, because she had left him to go eat. She’s taking great care of him though, and he’s doing well.

GraniteAcres EC Red Velvet x Rakkasan Ranch APA Cluster *B
DOB: April 30, 2024
Single: 1 boy
Velvet is a pill, and hates to stay in the fence. I’ve given up, and she puts herself back once she’s done wandering, so I don’t worry about her anymore. On this particular day, for the first time ever, when I went out to leave for work I found her with her leg caught in the fence. No idea how long she had been there, but she was just calmly standing, and didn’t fight at all when we worked on her to get her loose. I checked her leg over, it was very sore, but nothing was broken, so we put her away, and left. When the kids got home from school, they found her by the gate where she had been put back, with her new little boy.

GraniteAcres EC Snickerdoodle x Rakkasan Ranch APA Cluster *B
DOB: April 30, 2024
Single: 1 boy
After getting Velvet put in the barn with her baby, I went to do my check of the herd, and found Snickerdoodle in labor. We got her moved into the barn, and within half an hour she popped this little guy out. I had to help him for a couple days with standing and eating, because he would fall off the teat, and give up, so he wasn’t eating enough to have the energy to try harder, but he’s doing great now.

Almar Acres DJ Gold Fire Moon 5*M x Gaelic Roots CW Lucky Strike *B
DOB: May 10, 2024
Single: 1 girl
I had a due date written down for Goldie of April 29, but once we were over a week past it, I figured she had gotten pregnant when we put the bucks in for cleanup at the end of the breeding season, which would have given her a May 16th or later due date. So, when I found her in labor on the 10th, I expected tiny babies that probably wouldn’t make it. I sat with her in the barn, watching her wander, and occasionally pause to push. She’s usually super chill in labor, so I wasn’t worried at first. But, she wasn’t making any progress, so I decided to see what was going on, because I was worried about a baby presenting wrong. What I found was one leg, and a very large head, indicating she was actually 12 days past her due date, and she was beginning to stop labor. I ended up having to call my sister to come help, because she has smaller hands, and there was no way I could do it by myself. It took a couple hours before we managed to get the baby out. It was a beautiful doeling, but had died before my sister was able to get there. I was worried we were going to lose Goldie as well, which was gut-wrenching, as she is my absolute favorite doe in the herd, but she is recovering nicely.
GraniteAcres ID Violet x GraniteAcres CC El Capitan *B
DOB: May 17, 2024
Single: 1 girl
Violet hid in a shelter to have her baby, so I didn’t see her until after she was already out. She’s a tiny thing, but doing well, and Violet has way more milk than she needs, so the baby is very well fed.
GraniteAcres RM Denali x GraniteAcres CC El Capitan *B
DOB: May 18, 2024
Triplets: 2 girls, 1 boy
I arrived home from running errands and did my usual check on the herd. There was Denali with all 3 of her babies out, and almost dry. They are big and vigorous, and she is doing wonderfully with them.

GraniteAcres ID Jasmine x GraniteAcres CC El Capitan *B
DOB: May 18, 2024
Twins: 2 boys
I had been watching Jasmine for a couple days, and could tell she was getting closer, so was keeping a close watch on her. Even still, she popped out her nice big babies in the 30 minutes between checks while I had dinner. I’m so pleased with the improvement in her udder from last year. It was tiny, though well-productive for the size last year, but looks great this year.

GraniteAcres WB Rowan Blnchrd x Rakkasan Ranch APA Cluster *B
DOB: May 21, 2024
Single: 1 boy
Rowan likes to hide and deliver her babies by herself, and this was no exception. I had checked her the night before, and she wasn’t showing any signs of being close, but when I got home from work I heard a baby crying, and found her hiding in a shelter with her little boy, who was obviously several hours old. My son has been waiting 3 years for her to have another girl, as he wants to keep a daughter from her, so this one was especially frustrating for him.
GraniteAcres ID Godiva x Gaelic Roots CW Lucky Strike *B
DOB: May 21, 2024
Single: 1 boy
Like Rowan, Godiva wasn’t showing much indication that she was imminent. Being a first time mom, she decided to have her baby in the middle of the field, which is actually who I saw first, and just found Rowan’s on the way. She seems to have had him easily, and is being a good mom.

GraniteAcres WB Hot Toddy 1*M x Rakkasan Ranch APA Cluster *B
DOB: May 22, 2024
Twins: 1 girl, 1 boy
Toddy had her kids right before I left for work. She’s an old pro, so I just wiped some goo off, and left her to take care of things. The little doeling took a bit to figure out how to eat, but she finally did, and both babies are doing well.

GraniteAcres LS Licorice x GraniteAcres CC El Capitan *B
DOB: May 23, 2024
Twins: 2 boys
This one caused some drama. I didn’t have a due date for Licorice, so wasn’t paying close attention, and wasn’t expecting her babies. When I went to leave for work, I did my quick survey of the pasture, and saw a doe standing a ways out with two babies. I was pretty sure she was not pregnant, so was quite shocked. But, I could tell even from a distance that the babies were up and dry, and seemed to be figuring out nursing, and I was already running late, so I left. It didn’t occur to me until afterwards that the colors of the babies were not possible from that particular doe, but I figured I just hadn’t seen them clearly enough. When the kids got home from school I got a message from my daughter asking how many babies there were supposed to be, because there were 2 does with one baby each. Which is when I realized that the non-pregnant doe was trying to steal babies, and poor Licorice didn’t know what to do about it. The kids got mom and babies to the barn, and she is much happier taking care of her kids now.

GraniteAcres DS SabrinaCrpntr 1*M x GraniteAcres CC El Capitan *B
DOB: May 24, 2024

Sabrina snuck her kids in between checks. We had dinner, then went out to feed and check again, and found both her babies up. I do like having does that know what they are doing, and get the job done.

GraniteAcres PH JenLawrence 2*M x GraniteAcres CC El Capitan *B
DOB: May 25, 2024
Quads: 2 girls, 2 boys (1 doa)
Jen had her babies while I was doing my Saturday errands. My girls have been doing a lot of daytime deliveries, which I appreciate, but it’s hard when I’m gone for work, or other scheduled things so often while they deliver. Jen did her best, and had 3 of the babies up and going, unfortunately, one of the boys was gone when we got there. She’s taking excellent care of the remaining 3, and I’m absolutely in love with the color of the light chamoisee. She’s the same color as Jen’s sire, and I love seeing it again.

GraniteAcres RM Lahaina 3*M x GraniteAcres CC El Capitan *B
DOB: May 28, 2024
Triplets: 3 girls
Lahaina had been steadily progressing, so I expected to get a message from the kids when they got home from school that she had kidded, but she decided to wait for me. When I got home from work she was standing in the pen, obviously in labor, but not quite there yet. I hung out with her in the barn for the next hour, and she didn’t get far from my side, yelling any time I moved away from her. Babies 1 and 3 came out textbook, but I’m glad I was there for baby #2 though, because she came out butt first. Lahaina was standing up, cleaning the first baby, not paying any attention to what was happening behind her, and I think without me there to yank her out, she would have inhaled fluid before her face got clear. I was so surprised to have triplet girls though, that I had to check each a couple times, just to be sure I wasn’t mistaken.

GraniteAcres RM Kamuela x GraniteAcres CC El Capitan *B
DOB: May 29, 2024
Single: 1 boy
This was a repeat breeding, as I’ve really loved the doelings from the previous 2 years. Kam was big enough I was expecting twins or triplets, but this little guy is pretty good sized. She had him by herself while I was making dinner, and didn’t need any assistance getting him cleaned off and eating. He left as a bottle baby before I grabbed a picture.
GraniteAcres SW Phoenix x Gaelic Roots CW Lucky Strike *B
DOB: May 30, 2024
Triplets: 3 girls
Phoenix had her babies just before I got home from work. There was a little confusion at first, because another doe was in labor and trying to claim Phoenix’s girls, so my daughter thought one belonged to her, but it became apparent to me that the 2nd doe hadn’t progressed to that point yet, so all 3 girls were Phoenix’s. Just like with Lahaina, I had to check all 3 a few times before I could believe that they were really all girls, and one was exactly to order: a blue-eyed cou clair.

GraniteAcres MB Aradia 1*M x Gaelic Roots CW Lucky Strike *B
DOB: May 30, 2024
Twins: 2 girls (both DOA)
It was a rough year for our older girls. This was the second one I had to call my sister to come help with. Once we got Phoenix situated, I was able to turn my attention to Aradia, and it became clear pretty quickly that she was not making any progress. When I went in all I could feel was a hard head. The baby ended up having her nose tipped down, so the forehead was what was presenting, and legs tucked back. My sister was able to reposition, and get the baby out finally, then had to go back in to grab the 2nd because Aradia was too tired to keep pushing. Unfortunately, both were already gone before we were able to get them out.
GraniteAcres MS Boston 3*M x GraniteAcres CC El Capitan *B

GraniteAcres EC Andes Mint x Gaelic Roots CW Lucky Strike *B
DOB: June 5, 2024
Single: 1 girls
Minty was the last to kid, and was completely chill about it. I got home from work, stood and watched her for a little while, and she was just calmly laying with the herd chewing her cud. I went out a little later, and she was standing up with a baby. When I got closer though, I realized the baby was several hours old. She kidded sometime during the day, got her little girl cleaned up, and was calmly hanging out with her before anyone ever noticed.
